Ear Irrigation
Are you experiencing ear pain or discomfort? Do you feel that wax has built up in your ear canal and it is affecting your ability to hear clearly? Have you have attempted to clean your ear with a q-tip but your symptoms persist or worsen? At Kent Detox we are here to help with our in-clinic or at home ear wax removal services. During your visit, ear wax will be removed using one of or a combination of the following:
- A scoop specifically designed for this purpose, used primarily for stubborn wax not too deep inside the ear canal
- Before and after video/photo via digital otoscope to examine and determine how we can safely proceed.
- An ear irrigation pulsed jet, designed to reach further into the ear canal with moderate pressure
Although very safe when performed by a medical professional, our ears are incredibly delicate. Because of that, at Kent Detox we take a conservative and careful approach when irrigating your ears. Below is what you can expect from your visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have ear wax build-up all year round. Is it safe if I repeat this procedure multiple times?
Yes! Although we do not recommend frequent irrigation (more than twice a year), it is extremely common for people to need some help all year round. Our therapist always performs a thorough examination to determine whether or not you are a candidate of the procedure and also device a plan to make sure we keep the irritation to your ear canal and ear drum to a minimum.
If I suspect that I have ear wax build-up, but do not suffer from any hearing loss, should I seek help?
Absolutely! The best thing you can do for your ears is to prevent ear wax from building up to the point of having temporary hearing loss. Often times, it is very difficult for you to clean your ears because you cannot see inside and accurately and gently remove the wax. It is not possible that the use of q-tips make the matter worse instead of better. Therefore, having a professional do the cleaning for you is definitely something you should consider.
Should I attempt to remove the wax at the outer part of my ears before my appointment?
Generally speaking, it is recommended that you leave your ears alone before your appointment. This gives our practiotioner a good idea of what you are going through while minimizing the potential of any trauma your ears will sustain accidentally. At Kent Detox we are available for you 24/7 so rest assured, you will never have to wait too long!
I do not live in Sittingbourne, do you travel outside of Swale?
We absolutely do! We provide services within s 15 mile radius of Sittingbourne but call out visits incur a surcharge
